State GDP has doubled in five years: Mamata

Kolkata, July 30 (IBNS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday said her state has marked double growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as it stood at Rs.9.20 Lakh Crore in 2015-16.

"You will be happy to know that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of West Bengal has more than doubled from nearly Rs.4.61 Lakh Crore in 2010-11 to Rs.9.20 Lakh Crore in 2015-16," Banerjee wrote on her Facebook page.

"This quantum jump has been possible, partly due to massive increase in plan expenditure and partly due to huge creation of permanent assets in the state through increased capital expenditure," she said.

Banerjee said: "Just to share with you, plan expenditure in the state has increased by nearly 4 times from Rs.14,615 Crore in 2010-11 to Rs.54,069 Crore in 2015-16 and capital expenditure has increased by nearly 7 times from Rs.2225 Crore in 2010-11 to Rs.15,946 Crore in 2015-16."

Banerjee said her government is committed towards making the state 'number one' in the country.
