Bengaluru, July 18 (UNI): Karnataka Assembly Speaker K.R. Ramesh Kumar today ordered the home minister M.B. Patil to ask the state police and submit a report on Congress party members statement that one of the party MLA had been kidnapped.

As soon as the House reassembled after the lunch break, the water resources minister D.K. Shivakumar charged that the Opposition BJP has kidnapped a Congress MLA and confined him by force to a hospital in Mumbai.

He had also displayed the Congress member apparently taking treatment in a hospital in Mumbai, and sought the protection from the chair.

He said that Congress MLA Srimantha Patil was forcefully taken to Mumbai, when the House was to take a confidence motion.

The Congress member and the KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao, intervening into the issue, charged that the BJP leaders were behind kidnapping of a ruling party member.

Responding to the members' concern, Speaker Ramesh Kumar directed the home minister to conduct a probe into the incident and submit a report by tomorrow.
