Speak for minorities in Pakistan: BJP MP asks Malala Yousafzai

New Delhi, Sept 15: BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje on Saturday responded to a tweet on Jammu and Kashmir by Pakistani Nobel prize winner Malala Yousafzai and asked her to give more time to speak with minorities in her country.

She raised the issue of forced conversion of minorities practiced in Pakistan and said Malala should speak against the matter.

Malala tweeted: "I am asking leaders, at #UNGA and beyond, to work towards peace in Kashmir, listen to Kashmiri voices and help children go safely back to school."

She said: "I am deeply concerned about reports of 4,000 people, including children, arbitrarily arrested & jailed, about students who haven’t been able to attend school for more than 40 days, about girls who are afraid to leave their homes."

The BJP MP replied: "Sincere request to the Nobel winner, to spend some time speaking with the minorities of Pakistan. To speak against the forceful conversion & persecution taking place on the minority girls in her own country! Developmental agendas got extended to Kashmir, nothing suppressed! "

India and Pakistan are engaged in a bitter war of words in recent times since the Indian PM Narendra Modi-led government scrapped the Article 370 which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
