Lucknow/IBNS: Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Azam Khan was on Wednesday sent to seven days custody after he and his wife Tanzin Fatima surrendered before a district court for allegedly faking a birth certificate and other cases, reports said.

Besides Khan, his wife and son Abdullah Azam were also sent to custody up to Mar 2.

According to reports, Azam has put the wrong date of birth of his son in the election papers from where the alleged fake birth certificate issue came to light.

The trio surrendered before the court on Wednesday itself after non-bailable warrants were issued against them in one of the cases.

The family had been long ignoring summons from the court in relation to various cases, reports said.

Over 80 cases are registered against the SP legislator.

He is currently facing a few criminal cases in connection with land encroachments by the Mohammad Ali Jauhar University.

He was also booked for stealing a buffalo and cash in the year 2016.
