Lucknow, Dec 29 (IBNS): Disagreements seem to flare up within the Samajwadi Party (SP) over distribution of tickets for the upcoming state assembly elections, according to media reports.

The Election Commission is likely to announce the dates for elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur on Jan 4, media reported.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has called a meeting of his party leaders on Thursday regarding the distribution of poll tickets, local reports said.

Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav  has already published the list of 325 party candidates for the elections.

It leaves out 53 current lawmakers of the Samajwadi Party, including close aides of the Chief Minister like Arvind Singh 'Gop' and Pawan Pandey, reported NDTV.

According to media reports,  Akhilesh was not happy with the list released by his father and told the media in Bundelkhand that he would take it up with the party chief.

Several lawmakers of the party met the chief minister at his residence on Thursday.

According to NDTV, Mulayam Singh has said, "I have not gone by any one list, many people had given lists, and I have gone by my choice."

He also said that the party would not project anyone for chief minister.
