Sonia wants compensation for farmers, hit by crop loss

Bhiwani, Haryana, Mar 21(IBNS) Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Saturday appealed to the Haryana's BJP government to provide timely compensation to farmers, hit by crop damage in the recent unseasonal rains in north India.

"What do they want? They just want relief. I appeal to the government to give right and timely compensation to these farmers. That is what the government's responsibility is," she said during a visit  to Bhadra village in Bhiwani district.

Gandhi is on a day-long visit to Haryana. She is also scheduled to visit few other villages under Rohtak parliamentary constituency.

The Congress President had visited villages in Kota district of Rajasthan on Friday and  met farmers, who have suffered crop loss.
