Smriti Zubin Irani Chairs Consultative Committee Meeting of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting

New Delhi, Jan 5 (IBNS): Smriti Zubin Irani, Minister for Information & Broadcasting, chaired the meeting of Consultative Committee of I&B Ministry to discuss about the efforts taken in organizing International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2017 and the steps to be taken to improve the next edition of IFFI.

Smt Irani apprised the Members of the Committee about the various steps and initiatives taken by the Ministry in IFFI 2017. She mentioned that this time all committees were restructured, Steering committee and preview committee has been vastly expanded. She also emphasized that for the first time IFFI officially collaborated with Toronto and Venice Film Festivals. She said that in IFFI 2017, nine (9) Master classes were organized, 197 films were screened and 493 delegates invited.

Members of the Committee while appreciating the efforts of the Ministry in organizing IFFI 2017, said that regional films should be given more representation in IFFI.

They also appreciated the choice of films this year and the large participation of the film fraternity. They proposed to organize socially inclined film festivals like Kisan film festival, etc.

A presentation was made by Ashok Kumar Parmar on behalf of the Ministry giving an overview of IFFI 2017. Members of the committee were apprised about the efforts taken in organizing IFFI 2017.
