Six die, 13 injured as roadways bus collides with truck in UP

Bahraich/UNI: Six people were killed and 13 others were injured when a roadways bus collided with a truck in Jarwal Road area of Bahraich district, Uttar Pradesh (UP) on Wednesday morning, a senior administration official informed.

District Magistrate Dr Dinesh Chandra said the incident took place near Ghaghara Ghat on Bahraich-Lucknow highway when the roadways bus coming to Bahraich from Lucknow collided head on with the truck.

"Six persons, including the bus driver, were killed on the spot and their identity is being ascertained," he said.

He said that 13 persons identified as Shiva (32), Om Prakash (26), Kanhai Lal (25), Durga (32), Prem (48), Vishal (21), Shakuntala (38), Abrar (14), Chhepali (25), Ram Prakash Harishchandra (39), Dhaniram (45), Karishma Pandey (32) and Sandeep Kumar (26) were injured in the accident.

The DM said that the injured have been admitted to the district hospital and community health center (CHC) Mustafabad.

"A number of bus passengers were Nepalese citizens," he said.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over loss of lives in the accidents and has conveyed his sympathies towards the bereaved families.

He has directed the district administration officials to ensure proper treatment of the injured.

Yogi has directed the District Magistrate and senior police officers to reach the spot and launch a rescue and relief work on war footing.

He has also directed to immediately distribute financial assistance under the passenger relief scheme of the transport department.
