Six African nationals attacked in Delhi, Rajnath speaks to chief cop
New Delhi, May 29 (IBNS): The racial attacks seem to continue in the national capital with six more African nationals being targetted on Thursday night in south Delhi's Mehrauli area, a week after the death of the Congolese national here.
Two of the six African victims have alleged they were beaten with cricket bats.
According to the police, the six nationals were injured in three separate incidents.
The Police have registered three separate police cases.
Few people have also been detained for interrogation.
However, the police have denied that the attacks were planned or racist in nature.
Condemning the attacks, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said he has spoken to the Commissioner of Delhi Police.
On May 20, 29-year-old Masonda Ketada Olivier from Congo was beaten to death by some locals in south Delhi's Vasant Kunj, allegedly over an argument over hiring an auto-rickshaw.
In protest against the attacks, African students reportedly plan to hold a demonstration in Delhi on Tuesday.
Earlier, a Nigerian student was allegedly attacked in Hyderabad over a parking space dispute.
