Shramik Express trains leave with 3622 passengers on board

Panaji/UNI: Special Shramik Express Train of Konkan Railway left from Karmali Railway Station to Dibrugarh in Assam at 2012 hrs with 1345 passengers and two Special trains of Konkan Railways carrying all together 2277 passengers on board departed from Margao Railway Station to Sonbhadra in Uttar Pradesh and Bairabi in Mizoram on May 28, 2020.

First Train No. 01716 carrying 984 passengers left Madgaon Railway Station for Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh at 1255 hrs; while second Train No. 05004 departed with 1293 passengers to Bairabi, Mizoram, at 2100 hrs.

Mamu Hage, IAS, Deputy Collector Bardez , oversaw the departure of the train to Bairabi,Mizoram.

The people who boarded on the train were stranded in Goa due to ongoing nationwide lockdown. A proper medical screening and other formalities of the passengers were carried out before they boarded on the trains.

The entire operation was monitored by District Magistrate South Goa Ajit Roy, IAS and R Menaka, IAS, District Magistrate, North under overall supervision of Kunal, IAS, Nodal officer for Inter State Movement Cell.
