Shourie angry because he was not taken in Government : BJP

New Delhi, Oct 27 (IBNS) Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday hit back at senior party leader Arun Shourie after he attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, "These people are influenced by losers and that is why they make such statements. There is no vacancy in PMO as of now. The PMO is working well we don't need any certificate from defeated people."

Slamming Shourie, who was an important cabinet minister in the Atal Behari Vajpayee Government,  Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu said, "This government is not weak, it is a strong government. The PM is working for the country. Opponents are not able to digest the popularity of the PM. They can't appreciate the work done by Narendra Modi. They are misleading or being mislead."

In a sharp attack on the Narnedra Modi Government, Shourie had said on Monday that its  "lack of direction is making people think that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was wise."

Once a strong supporter of Modi, Shourie made this comment during a panel discussion following the launch of a book in Delhi authored by TN Ninan, the editor of the Business Standard.

"People say, at least Dr Singh was wise," Shourie said.

When asked how he would distinguish the NDA from the UPA,  Shourie said the policies of both the Government are the same. He described the policies of PM Modi's government as "Congress scaled plus a cow", a sarcastic comment on the BJP's drive for cow protection after the mob-killing of a man in Uttar Pradesh's Dadri last month over rumours of cow slaughter and beef consumption.

"The difference really is that there is a firmer, clearer belief that managing the economy means managing the headlines of the economy, and this is not really going to work," he said.

Shourie assessed the current Prime Minister's Office as "the weakest" so far and said there was no one with "domain expertise to manage the PMO."

He also claimed that industrialists are afraid of speaking against the government.
