Shocked and disturbed: Rahul Gandhi on murder of 2-year old child in UP

New Delhi, Jun 7 (IBNS): Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Friday said the horrific incident of a two-year old child's murder in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh left him "shocked and disturbed".

Rahul tweeted, "The horrific murder of a little girl in Aligarh, UP has shocked and disturbed me. How can any human being treat a child with such brutality? This terrible crime must not go unpunished. The UP police must act swiftly to bring the killers to justice."

The victim's family had reported her missing on May 31. The Aligarh police was alerted when stray dogs had appeared to carry the body parts of the victim. The police have ruled out rape, media report said.

The girl's body was found near her house on the outskirts of Aligarh.

Two men, who are the neighbours of the deceased, have been arrested. The case will be investigated under the National Security Act (NSA). Under the NSA, anyone, who pose a threat to the national security, can be detained for a year.

Congress' eastern Uttar Pradesh chief Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also reacted to the incident.

She tweeted, "The brutal murder in Aligarh is yet another inhuman, unspeakable crime against an innocent child. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain her parents must feel. What has become of us?"
