Mumbai/IBNS: Shabana Azmi's driver has been booked after the veteran actress was injured in a car accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Saturday.

Azmi's driver has been identified as Amlesh Yogendra Kamat.

According to police, the FIR was lodged after the truck driver, whose vehicle was hit from behind by Azmi's car, registered a complaint.

"Due to rash driving by the driver, the car hit the moving truck on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway which resulted in the accident," the FIR copy read.

The actress was admitted to a hospital for treatment following the accident.

The accident reportedly occurred after her car rammed into a truck.

MGM Hospital officials told India Today, "Shabana Azmi has got minor injuries on her nose. No other visible injuries till now. She is right now in state of shock. Treatment going on. Condition stable."

Azmi’s husband and lyricist Javed Akhtar, who was travelling behind her in a separate car, an Audi, was safe and his car was not involved in the crash, police told Hindustan Times.
