Setback for Smriti Irani : Delhi court to examine allegation over her college degree

| | Jun 24, 2015, at 08:48 pm
New Delhi, June 24 (IBNS) In what could be a setback for Union Education Minister Smriti Irani, a Delhi court has decided to examine the validity of a complaint that she misrepresented her qualifications.

The court has fixed the next hearing on August 28.

The case against the youngest member of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet was fled by a freelance writer Ahmer Khan.

It has been alleged that Irani  has made contradictory claims about her college education in documents filed in different years with the Election Commission.

According to the complaint Irani Irani had said that she completed her BA in 1996  in a long-distance or correspondence program from Delhi University.

But last year she allegedly said that she had completed a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from the  School of Open Learning, Delhi University.
