Sena's Viswanath Mahadeshwar new Mayor of BMC

Mumbai, Mar 8 (IBNS) : Shiv Sena's Vishwanath Mahadeshwar was elected as the mayor of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the richest civic body in India, reports said.

Mahadeshwar had an easy win after . BJP corporators extended support to his candidature.

Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena won 84 of the 227 seats in the fiercely-contested BMC election last month.

The BJP claimed  82 seats and the mandate that emerged was fractured.

The mayoral election was conducted by current mayor Snehal Ambekar.

With a show of hands, corporators elected new mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar.
