Security forces nab hardcore NDFB-S militant in Assam

Guwahati, Nov 7 (IBNS): Security forces have apprehended a hardcore militant belonging to the banned outfit NDFB-S in Assam's Chirang district on Monday night, officials said on Tuesday.
 

According to the reports, based on intelligence input, army and Assam police had jointly launched operation at Mandarguri area under Amguri police station along with Indo-Bhutan border in the BTAD district about presence of a hardcore militant.

"The security personnel had nabbed the militant from a house and recovered arms and ammunition," a top police official of Chirang district said.

The nabbed militant was identified as Soumkhur Narzary alias N Sibilang and security personnel had recovered a 7.65mm pistol, two magazines and nine rounds live ammunition in possession from him.

The top police official said that, the nabbed militant belonged to the 40th batch of the outfit and he was trained in Myanmar.

Recently, Soumkhur and few other militants of NDFB-S had returned to Assam via Manjila in Nagaland from Myanmar after completing training.
