SC quashes plea against Mamata Banerjee

| @indiablooms | Jan 31, 2020, at 11:29 pm

New Delhi/UNI: The Supreme Court on Friday refused to entertain a plea, seeking a writ of quo warranto against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, seeking a UN referendum on the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.

"We are not denying it is not important. Go to the High Court," said the apex court three-judge bench, headed by CJI SA Bobde.

The petition was filed by a journalist, seeking a writ of quo warranto against Banerjee for seeking a UN referendum on the CAA.

"We don't find any merit in the petition. This accordingly, we dismiss it," the court said, after hearing a petition filed by a journalist.

Besides, the journalist also wanted that appropriate action and directions should be initiated against Banerjee for her alleged conduct.
