SC asks UP Govt to explain teenager's arrest

| | Mar 19, 2015, at 09:38 pm
New Delhi, Mar 19(IBNS) The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Uttar Pradesh government explain the circumstances which led to the arrest of a teenaged boy for his comment on state minister Azam khan.

On the basis of a complaint lodged by Azam Khan's media in-charge, that the facebook post by the boy was objectionable, police arrested the class eleven student.

A court sent him to 14 days' judicial remand.

The boy's family claimed that he had merely shared the post.

Azam Khan said, "there was a comment from a boy on Facebook against me which caused problem to me as people started abusing me over phone and started getting flak on Facebook. These incidents will stop only after taking hard steps, his act was highly objectionable."

The incident gave fodder to the BJP and other parties opposed to the ruling Samajwadi Party in UP as they alleged that there is anarchy in Uttar Pradesh and whoever tries to oppose it is threatened.
