'Saturated' Nitish Kumar wants to step down: RLSP leader Kushwaha

Patna, Nov 1 (IBNS): RLSP leader Upendra Kushwaha, whose party is an ally of the ruling Janata Dal (United) that leads the Bihar government, has recently claimed that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar wants to step down, media reports said.

Addressing the party workers in Patna, Kushwaha said he knows Nitish best.

After 15 years in power, Nitish was inclined to move on, the RSLP leader added.

Presently, the JD(U) is in an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to run the state government.

Nitish became the Bihar Chief Minister in 2015 after the grand alliance- which was formed by the JD(U), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress- was voted to power.

However, citing an alleged corruption by Lalu's son Tejashwi, the JD(U) broke up with the RJD-Congress and later formed an alliance with the BJP.

BJP's Sushil Kumar Modi is presently the Deputy Chief Minister of the eastern state.

While Kushwaha claimed Nitish's motive to resign, the JD(U) and the BJP have already arrived at a seat-sharing deal for 2019 General Elections.

Both the parties will contest in equal number of seats in the next Lok Sabha elections, which is scheduled to be held in few months' time.
