Chennai, Feb 5 (IBNS): Longtime companion of J Jayalalithaa- Sasikala Natarajan- is all set to become the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, officials said.

She has been elected as the AIADMK Legislature Party Leader.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, who has stepped down from the position, proposed the name of Sasikala Natarajan as the leader of AIADMK Legislature Party Leader.

The AIADMK tweeted: "Chinnamma all set to become the Next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu."

Natarajan took charge as party chief after the demise of former state chief minister J. Jayalalithaa in December.

She said: "Tamil Nadu Government will follow the principles of Amma."

According to reports, AIADMK top brass have been demanding for long that Natarajan, who was Jayalalithaa's closest companion for years, become the chief minister of the state.

After Jayalalithaa's death in December last year, O Panneerselvam took oath as the CM of the state.
