Kolkata, Aug 6 (IBNS): The Calcutta High Court on Thursday rejected jailed West Bengal transport minister Madan Mitra's bail petition in connection with the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam which was filled by lawyer and Congress leader Kapil Sibal.

The division bench of justice Nishita Mhatre and justice Asha Arora rejected Madan Mitra's bail plea.

Another lawyer of Madan Mitra, Niladri Bhattacharya told IBNS: "After getting the order from the court, we will decide our next step."

After a marathon 5 hours of questioning CBI arrested Madan Mitra on Dec 12 in 2014 in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam.

He is in judicial custody and is being treated in Seth Sukhlal Karnani Memorial (SSKM) Hospital.
