Rumi Nath sent to 14 days' judicial custody

Guwahati, Apr 15 (IBNS) : A local court in Guwahati on Wednesday sent Assam Congress MLA Dr Rumi Nath to 14 days' judicial custody.


The Kamrup CJM court sent the legislator of Borkhola assembly constituency in Cachar district to judicial custody up to April 27.

Police arrested the Congress MLA on Tuesday from her official residence in Guwahati for alleged link with an auto theft racket.

"We had arrested the Congress MLA in two cases registered in Dispur police station and Azara police station, " Guwahati city police commissioner Jyotirmoy Chakraborty said.

During the police investigation, it was found that, the arrested kingpin of auto theft gang Anil Chauhan had got car pass of State assembly   three times in recommendation of Dr Rumi Nath.

Earlier police had arrested her estranged second husband Jacky Zakir from his residence in Karimganj district and her personal security officer (PSO) Debabrata Borpatra Gogain from the special branch headquarters in Guwahati on April 7.
