Kolkata, May 23 (IBNS) An over-bridge (flyover) over the railway level crossing -- near Kumarpur in Asansol, West Bengal -- on GT Road will be constructed by the Eastern Railways and SAIL-ISP on shared cost basis.
The level crossing is across a stretch of the road that connects Asansol to industrial areas such as Barakar, Sitarampur, Rupnarayanpur, Kulti and Chittaranjan.

Manas Sarkar, Chief Engineer (CON-II), Eastern Railways and  Vivek Gupta. GM (Projects), SAIL-ISP signed the Memorandum  of Understanding (MoU) on Saturday on behalf of their respective organisations, in the presence of Babul Supriyo, Union Minister of State for Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, who laid the foundation stone of the over-bridge.

While the construction of the over-bridge ease the traffic congestion that occurred with the frequent closing of the level crossing gate, it will also allow SAIL-ISP to increase its steel dispatches from its newly-expanded 2.5mtpa capacity steel plant.
