Rio: PV Sindhu storms into finals, confirms India's second medal
Sindhu's 21-19, 21-10 clinical display will assure her an Olympic Silver medal at least.
She now has the chance of achieving the ultimate result, a Gold Medal, something no Indian shuttler has done before.
After a compact first set, Sindhu drowned her Japanese opponent Nozomi Okuhara in the second, taking the last 10 points without dropping one.
After a fortnight of disappointing results for the Indian faithfuls, India enjoyed a field day as Sakshi Malik brought to an end the medal drought, winning the Bronze medal in the women's 58kg freestyle wrestling competition.
Saina Nehwal had won the Bronze medal in the 2012 London Olympics.
