Srinagar, Apr 27 (IBNS) Authorities on Wednesday imposed strict restrictions around city centre Lal Chowk after the JKLF called funeral prayers for the organisation's founding leader Amanullah Khan, who died in Pakistan on Tuesday.

According to reports, Restrictions were imposed in and around the Lal Chowk and adjacent Maisuma locality of Srinagar after Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik announced the move to hold the funeral prayer.

“we were not allowed to move from one side to another side. Large number of security forces deployed in the area prevent us from opening our business establishments  at Lal Chowk,” a shopkeeper said.

Traffic, shops and educational institutions remained closed and business was suspended in the area.

Earlier, Kashmir police detained JKLF Chief Yasin Malik to prevent him from taking part in the funeral prayer.

Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was put under house arrest on Tuesday, a Hurriyat spokesman said.
