Reports that 21-day lockdown may be extended are baseless: Indian government

New Delhi/IBNS: The Indian government on Monday said reports that the 21-day lockdown period to fight COVID 19 might be extended is 'baseless'.

"Alert : There are rumours & media reports, claiming that the Government will extend the #Lockdown21 when it expires. The Cabinet Secretary has denied these reports, and stated that they are baseless #PIBFactCheck #lockdownindia #coronaupdatesindia #IndiaFightsCorona," Press Information Bureau tweeted.

Indian PM Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced 21-day lockdown during a televised address as a step to fight against the COVID 19 outbreak in the country.

India has registered 27 deaths so far.

Over 1000 infected cases have been reported so far.
