Reports of J&K cops resigning over terrorists killing 3 policemen false propaganda: Rajnath Singh

Srinagar, Sept 21 (IBNS): After the bodies of three cops killed by militants were recovered from south Kashmir’s Shopian on Friday, several video messages surfaced on social media that purportedly showed special police officers announcing their decision to resign.

Following this, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh refuted such reports and said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police remains committed to face any kind of challenges.

In a tweet, he wrote: "Certain reports have appeared in a section of the media that some SPOs have resigned in Jammu and Kashmir. The J&K Police @JmuKmrPolice have confirmed that these reports are untrue and motivated. These reports are based on false propaganda by mischievous elements."

"Jammu and Kashmir has a professional and committed police force which is fully geared up to meet the security challenges, including those related to panchayat and urban bodies elections," Singh tweeted.

The terrorists had earlier kidnapped four cops in total.

Out of four, one was rescued by the villagers, a Home Ministry official told NDTV.

Police told media that the terrorists had barged into the houses of the policemen in Kapran village and dragged them out.

The Home Ministry official was quoted by the outlet as saying: "Terrorist are under pressure as they are not able to execute anything big. Protest politics and stone-pelting has come down. So they are taking out their frustration by targeting policemen in their houses."

The terrorists had allegedly warned the policemen and asked them to resign.

The latest incident occurred just days after three policemen and eight relatives of police personnel, who were kidnapped by terrorists in south Kashmir, were set free.
