Rebel Kerala Congress leader PC George resigns as legislator

| | Nov 10, 2015, at 09:43 pm
Thiruvanthapuram, Nov 10 (IBNS) Rebel Kerala Congress (M) leader PC George on Tuesday resigned as a legislator amidst the clamour for Finance Minister KM Mani's resignation over the bar bribery scandal.

Speaking to reporters, George said he will submit the resignation letter to the speaker on November 12. He also challenged K M Mani to make him a role model and follow suit by resigning from the post of the finance minister.

George's  declaration  came at a time when Mani has refused to resign despite pressure from the UDF. He said Mani should follow the suit.

He also demanded the resignation of chief minister Oommen Chandy, who he said was also involved in corrupt activities.

However, Mani's party Kerala Congress (M) said it saw no reason for its leader to step down, a day after high court cleared the decks for further investigation against him in the case.
