Rajyavardhan Rathore mourns death of two journalists

New Delhi, May 14 (IBNS): Union Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore ‏on Saturday mourned the death of two journalists in Rajdeo Ranjan and Akhilesh Pratap Singh.

He called for strict action against those who committed the crime.

"My condolences to families of journalists, Rajdeo Ranjan & Akhilesh Pratap Singh.Such loss of life is unacceptable.Calls for strict action,"Rathore tweeted.

Two journalists have been shot dead in Bihar and neighbouring Jharkhand in the last 24 hours, reports said.

Rajdev Ranjan, the bureau chief of the Hindi daily Hindustan, was shot dead by miscreants near Siwan railway station on Friday evening.

He was shot at five times from close range.

He was rushed to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. 

The Bihar Police says the motive for the killing is not yet clear.

Three people have been detained in the case for interrogation.

Akash Pratap Singh, another journalist, was shot dead by unidentified people on Thursday night in Jharkhand's  Chatra district.

Thirtyfive-year-old Singh worked for a local news channel.

Condemning the incident, Chief Minister Raghubar Das asked the police to arrest the assailants.
