Rajkot: Dalit man beaten to death upon factory owner's order

Rajkot, May 21 (IBNS): A Dalit man has been beaten to death by some unidentified men upon the order of a factory owner in Rajkot, media reports said.

The incident has also been filmed.

A video which surfaced, showed how the man was tied up and beaten by a person who was later joined by another.

The victim has been identified as Mukesh Vaniya.

Later, based on a First Information Report (FIR), police have nabbed at least five people in connection with the murder.

Reacting to the news, dalit leader and Gujarat MLA, Jignesh Mevani, also shared the video on Twitter and said, "Mr. Mukesh Vaniya belonging to a scheduled caste was miserably thrashed and murdered by factory owners in Rajkot and his wife was brutally beaten up'. #GujaratIsNotSafe4Dalit"
