Jaipur, Oct 9 (UNI) Indefinite curfew was clamped in Malpur in Rajasthan's Tonk district early Wednesday after tension in the area over stone pelting at Lord Ram's 'baraat' (wedding procession).

District Collector K K Sharma issued curfew orders at 0500 hrs and banned internet services till October 10.

Yesterday, a group of people pelted stones at wedding procession of Lord Ram and was not letting others burn demon king Ravana's effigy.

MLA Kanahiyalal last night staged a sit-in at police station. Police tried to contain demonstrators and deployed security forces to maintain law and order.

The district authorities burnt Ravana's effigy at 0400 hrs today.

Few people shared photos of old riots through WhatsApp to create panic.
