Rahul to visit Amethi today

| | May 18, 2015, at 04:12 pm
Amethi, May 18 (IBNS) Rahul Gandhi begins a three-day visit to Amethi in Uttar Pradesh on Monday amid accusations by the BJP that he has neglected his constituency.

Ahead of his visit, union minister and BJP leader Smriti Irani visited Amethi last week. She claimed that Gandhi's visit was announced only after she made planst to go to Amethi. "I am glad, at least, Rahul is following my footsteps, the people of Amethi will get to see him," she said sarcastically.

Rahul has taken on the Narendra Modi government over the scrapping of the food park, which was sanctioned by the previous Congress-led UPA government.

Like Irani had last week, Rahul Gandhi will go to Amethi's villages and meet farmers who have lost their crop in the recent untimely rains and hailstorms.
