Lucknow, Sept 2 (IBNS) : Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s convoy was on Friday stopped by protesting Anganwadi workers in Gauriganj in Uttar Pradesh while he was enroute to Lucknow, reports said.

The place, where the agitation took place is within Amethi, Gandhi's own constituency.

About 200 women health workers who gathered at the spot were demanding a pay hike.

They  also raised slogans against the central and state government.

The workers alleged that Rahul had promised to raise their grievances with the government and get their salary hiked to Rs. 15,000.

Gandhi remained inside his car while  SPG officials brought the situation under control by pushing away the protesters.
