Rahul Gandhi slams govt over closing down of MSMEs due to COVID pandemic

New Delhi/UNI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said the government has admitted that nine percent of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) were closed down during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The government has responded to the various questions asked by Gandhi regarding the MSMEs sector in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.

Taking to Twitter, Gandhi said, #MSME, I had asked some serious questions to the government, in response to which they have admitted that 9 percent of MSMEs were closed during the COVID period. It means, its benefits the friends, weakening the economy and loss of jobs!"

Gandhi also tweeted the list of questions which was asked by him on Thursday in the Lok Sabha.

In response to the questions, the government said, “National Small Industries Corporation Limited conducted in an on-line survey in August 2020, covering around 5,774 MSMEs in 32 states /UTs to assess the impact of COVID-19 Pandemic, found that 91 percent of MSMEs were functional and 9 percent have closed down due to the impact of COVID-19 pandemic."
