New Delhi, Oct 12 (IBNS): Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Friday condoled the death of environmentalist G.D. Agarwal.

Agarwal was on a fast for 111 days in demand for a clean Ganga.

"A true son of Mother Ganges, G.D. Agarwal is no more. He ended his life in a bid to save the Ganges. India is made up by rivers like the Ganges. Saving it is in a true sense saving the nation.  We won't forget him ever. We are going to take his fight forward," Gandhi tweeted in Hindi.

Agarwal died in Rishikesh on Thursday.
