New Delhi/IBNS: Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi met farmer leaders from six states in the Parliament House Complex on Wednesday.

After meeting the farmer leaders, Gandhi said, "In our manifesto, we had mentioned MSP with a legal guarantee. We have done the assessment and it can be done.

"We had a meeting right now where it was decided that we will talk to the other leaders of the INDIA alliance to put pressure on the government that MSP legal guarantee should be given to the farmers of the country."

Earlier in the day, Gandhi had alleged the farmer leaders were not allowed to enter Parliament.

Speaking to the reporters, the Congress MP had said, "We had invited them (farmer leaders) here to meet us. But they are not allowing them here (in Parliament). They are not allowing them in, maybe because they are farmers."

Leaders from the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha on Monday announced a fresh protest against the Modi government on the MSP issue.

The farmer leaders demand the legalisation of the MSP.

They will also hold a march in support of the private bills which have been announced by the Opposition.

In February, the farmers had begun the second phase of their protest against the government but they were stopped at the border of Haryana through barricades.

The two organisations have planned to hold a joint rally in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district on September 1.
