Rahul Gandhi in Kerala's Alappuzha for Congress' Bharat Jodo Yatra today

Alappuzha/UNI: The 13th day of Kerala-leg of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' commenced from Cherthala with hundreds of people joining here on Tuesday.

The padayatra participants will walk 15 km from Cherthala to Kuthiyathodu in this district during the morning session.

The foot march will halt at Kuthiathodu at 11 am and resume at 5 pm to reach Aroor. The participants will halt for the night at Kochi in Ernakulam district.

Rahul Gandhi Monday interacted with Kerala tourism industry representatives who apprised him of how the sector was reeling under huge revenue declines and an apathetic government that was unable or unwilling to provide fiscal support.

Over 19 days in the state, the yatra will cover seven districts across 450 km, before it commences in Karnataka on October 1.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra is a five month, over 3500-km-long padayatra from Kanyakumari to Srinagar.

It is part of the Congress' national mass outreach program aimed at highlighting social polarisation, economic inequalities and political centralisation.
