Rahul exempted from appearing in court till May 8
Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, Mar 30(IBNS) Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has been exempted from personal appearance from a court till May 8 in the Bhiwandi defamation case "because he is on leave even from Parliament for personal reasons."
The Congress leader's advocate filed an application before the Bhiwandi court in Maharashtra saying Rahul has taken leave even from parliament.
The advocate has assured the court that Rahul will appear at the next hearing on May 8.
Gandhi has been accused of defamation for stating during an election speech in Bhiwandi last year that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is to be blame for the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi.
Rahul created a flutter in political circles and prompted the ruling BJP members in parliament to make it an issue when he went on "a leave of absence" during the curcial budget session of parliament.
His party has said he is devoting time to "introspection and contemplation."
