Pulwama martyrs' families seek proof of deaths in Balakot strike

Lucknow, Mar 6 (IBNS): The families of two soldiers killed in the Pulwama attack have asked for proof of the impact of the IAF strike on a Jaish-e-Mohammad facility in Balakot, Pakistan, says NDTV.

Pradeep Kumar of Shamli and Ram Vakeel of Mainpuri were among the 40 CRPF jawans who died in the February 14 attack. Pakistan-based Jaish had claimed responsibility for it.

In retaliation, Indian Air Force planes entered Pakistan on February 26, the first time in nearly five decades, to bomb a Jaish facility. Thought the Indian government has claimed a large number of terrorists have been killed, international media has been skeptical about the impact of the strike without any significant proof furnished by India.

The Indian Air Force said its job is to hit targets and not to count bodies.

"Like in our case (Pulwama) we saw someone 's hands, someone's limbs, we need to see something from the other side. Someone took responsibility for the bomb attack almost immediately. I am sure the strikes have happened but where have they done it? There should be clear proof. Until there is proof, how can we accept it? Pakistan says there is no damage to them so how can we accept it unless there is proof," NDTV quoted Ram Raksha, the sister of slain soldier Ram Vakeel as saying.

"Show us, only then we will get peace and know that my brother's killing has been avenged," she said.

Pradeep Kumar's mother, who is in her eighties, said the same thing.

"We are not satisfied. So many sons died. We saw no one dead. There are no dead bodies on the other side. In fact, there was no confirmed news. We need to see this on TV. And we need to be told at our homes. We need to see the dead bodies of the terrorists," said Sulelata, according to NDTV.

The government has not given out any figures despite attacks by the Opposition on this but has accused them of questioning the armed forces.

Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said: "The NTRO (National Technical Research Organisation), which has an authentic system, said that 300 mobile phones were active... Were these mobile phones used by the trees? Now will you not believe the NTRO also?"
