Prohibitory orders in Ambala as protesting farmers plan foot march to Delhi tomorrow

New Delhi/IBNS: Prohibitory orders were imposed in Haryana's Ambala on Thursday evening as protesting farmers have planned a 'Dilli Chalo' march from the Shambhu border on Friday.

The foot-march to the Parliament building in Delhi is scheduled to begin at 1 pm from the Shambhu border protest site on Friday.

This would be the second-foot march planned this week.

Earlier on Monday, farmers from Uttar Pradesh attempted to march to Delhi to highlight their grievances, causing traffic congestion in parts of the national capital and Noida, where the farmers were stopped.

The protesting farmers have gathered under the banner of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political), seeking legal guarantees for the  Minimum Support Price of crops, among other things.

Their long list of demands also includes guaranteed compensation and benefits under new laws.

The protesting farmers have been camping at the Shambhu and Khanauri border points between Punjab and Haryana since February.

The prohibitory orders in Ambala automatically bar any procession on foot, vehicles, or other modes.

Central paramilitary forces have been deployed on the Haryana side of the border along with multi-layer barricading. Senior police officers have reached the border to assess the security situation.
