Produce Guv letter inviting BJP to form govt, letter of support to Fadnavis: Supreme Court tells Centre

New Delhi/UNI: The Supreme Court on Sunday told the Centre and Maharashtra government to produce two letters, invite of Maharashtra Governor to the BJP to form government and letter of support to CM Devendra Fadnavis, by Monday morning.

A three-judge bench, headed by Justice N V Ramana, issued notices to the Centre and Maharashtra government on a petition filed by the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress combine against the Maharashtra Governor's decision to allow BJP to form government in the state.

The Top Court said the plea seeking a direction for immediate floor test has to be considered tomorrow after the hearing concludes.

Shiv Sena contended before Supreme Court that the BJP must face a floor test if it has majority in the house, and only then, it should be allowed to form a government.

It accused State Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari of bias and said that the lifting of President’s Rule was "shrouded in mystery."

Meanwhile, BJP, which secured 105 seats out of 288-member Maharashtra Assembly seats, told the Apex Court that the petition is filed by three political parties and not an individual. An BJP MLA cited it as the violation of Article 32.
