Mahoba/Lucknow, Oct 24 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Mahoba in Bundelkhand, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday to address a 'parivartan rally' as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP's) election campaign in the state, according to media reports.

This is the first time that an Indian PM has visited Mahoba, reported the local media.

The PM said that the Bundelkhand region is "special" as the state has shown its prowess with the sword as well as with the pen.

He paid tribute to martyred soldier Naresh Kumar Pal.

In his speech the PM blamed the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) governments in Uttar Pradesh for the backwardness of the state and the poor condition of the farmers, according to media reports.

As the Bundelkhand region is shared by Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, Modi drew comparisons between the two regions, saying that with the BJP at the helm in Madhya Pradesh, that part has made huge advances but the part in Uttar Pradesh has hardly seen any development, the local media reported.

He said that the SP-BSP keeps on playing their own games in Uttar Pradesh while the people of the state have been left in the lurch.

The PM also said that the triple Talaq reform is to ensure that Muslim women adequate justice, the media reported.

The PM will travel to Varanasi on MOnday to lay the foundation of several schemes, including a City Gas Distribution project of Rs 1000 crore. media reported.
