New Delhi, July 9 (IBNS) President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday extended his greetings and felicitations to the Government and people of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas on the eve of their National Day.

In a message to Dame Marguerite Pindling, the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, the President said, “On behalf of the Government, the people of India and on my own behalf, it is with pleasure that I convey warm greetings and felicitations on the occasion of your National Day."

"India attaches high importance to her friendly relations with the Bahamas – characterized by a convergence of views on international issues of common concern," he said.

"The recent visit of your Foreign Minister to India has contributed to the further enhancement of our mutual understanding. I am confident that our relations will further strengthen in the years to come," Mukherjee said.

"I take this opportunity to convey, to Your Excellency, my best wishes for your personal well-being and for the continued progress and prosperity of the friendly people of the Bahamas,” he said.
