Pranab Mukherjee wishes Rodrigo Duterte on his election as President of Philippines

New Delhi, June 29 (IBNS) President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday congratulated Rodrigo Duterte on his election as the Republic of the Philippines.

In a message to Rodrigo Duterte, the President-elect of the Republic of the Philippines, Mukherjee said, “On behalf of the Government and people of India and on my own behalf, it is my pleasure to convey to you hearty congratulations on your election as the President of the Republic of the Philippines. As you prepare to assume that high office, I wish you success in all your efforts to fulfill the aspirations of the people of the Philippines."

"India and the Philippines traditionally share warm and cordial relations, based on mutual respect and goodwill. Our relationship has deepened and we have, today, a rich agenda of cooperation for achieving our common developmental goals. I am confident that our partnership will continue to strengthen in the years to come," he said.

Mukherjee said: "I take this opportunity, Excellency, to convey to you my best wishes for your personal well-being, and for the continued progress and prosperity of the friendly people of the Philippines.”
