Pradeep Kumar Sinha new Cabinet Secretary

New Delhi, May 29 (IBNS) Pradeep Kumar Sinha, a 1977 batch IAS officer, has been appointed the new Cabinet Secretary.

Sinha succeeds Ajit Seth whose term after an extension ends on June 13.

An official statement said on Friday that  Prime Minister has approved the appointment of the Uttar Pradesh cadre officer with effect from June 13, 2015.

Sinha will, however, join the cabinet secretariat as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in next one-two days to familiarise himself with the new job profile.

Sinha was earlier the Power Secretary before his elevation to the top post in Indian bureaucracy.

He had earlier served as  Secretary in the Ministry of Shipping, and held several other important positions in the Union Government and Uttar Pradesh.
