Powerful bomb recovered from a car along Assam-Meghalaya border

Guwahati, Nov 13 (IBNS) : Security personnel on Friday recovered a powerful bomb from a car from Barnihat area on the outskirts of Guwahati along Assam-Meghalaya border, which was planted by suspected Garo National Liberation Army militants, officials said.

According to reports, police found the bomb from a Swift Desire car (ML-10-B-1044) owned by a contactor named Gilbert Sangma on Friday morning.

The contactor said the militant group demanded Rs 6 lakh and threatened to kill him.

“I have received a call from the militant group and they demanded Rs 6 lakh and threaten me,” the contactor said.

“Today morning, I found a bomb in my car and immediately informed to police,” Gilbert said.

Later, local police recovered the bomb and bomb squad team defused it.
