Postal stamp on UTI released

New Delhi, Nov 12 (IBNS) The Minister for Communications & IT Ravi Shankar Prasad has released a Commemorative Postage Stamp to mark the Golden Jubilee of UTI.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the commemorative stamp is recognition of historical achievement of UTI and the peoples’ trust on that organisation.
 
The Minister said people are waiting to be a part of the financial inclusion scheme.
 
He said, though it is not easy to connect all villages with high speed internet, the Government is committed to do so through digital India programme.
 
The minister also spoke at length about the major initiatives of his government such as the MyGov portal, which is being extensively used for inviting suggestions from people on various issues.
 
Digital India is the topmost priority of the government which wants to digitally connect all the villages of the country in order to make public services available online.
 
The minister also shared his vision of digitally enabled Common Service Centre fully operated by women and other members from within community for the benefit of weaker sections.
 
Managing Directoir (UTI) Leo Puri said that since 1964 UTI has played a pivotal role in the development and growth of Indian financial market.
 
UTI Mutual Fund is a SEBI registered mutual fund sponsored by State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Bank of Baroda and Life Insurance Corporation of India.
 
UTI Mutual Fund is one of the largest mutual funds in India with investor accounts of 9.58 million under its 128 domestic schemes/plans as on September 30, 2014.
