Pope Francis arrives in Bangladesh to commence his three-day visit
Dhaka, Nov 30 (IBNS): Pope Francis arrived in Dhaka city of Bangladesh on Thursday.
With his arrival in the capital, Pope Francis commenced his three-day visit to the Asian nation.
A 21-gun salute heralded the arrival of the 80-year-old Pope Francis when he alighted from a VVIP flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines in Dhaka, wrapping up his three-day Myanmar visit, at around at 3:05 pm, The Daily Star reported.
The religious leader was received in the airport by Bangladesh President M Abdul Hamid.
Pope Francis was presented a guard of honour and state salute at the airport.
Pope John Paul II had visited Bangladesh in 1986.
Pope Francis is currently visiting Bangladesh at the invitation of the Asian nation's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Catholic Bishop's Conference of Bangladesh.
