Poll results of five states to be declared today

Bhopal/Jaipur, Dec 11 (IBNS): Counting of votes for five states where Assembly polls were held recently will be held on Tuesday.

Assembly polls were held in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Chhattisgarh and Telangana.

The counting of votes will begin at 8 am on Tuesday.

While the exit polls have claimed an advantageous position for Congress in at least three states, the results are expected to provide an indication if anti-incumbency is beginning to set in against the Bharatiya Janata Party-led led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.

The results are especially crucial ahead of the 2019 elections.

They are likely to show whether Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who registered a thumping victory in the 2014 elections, still enjoys the mandate of the people.

If exit polls are to be believed, the Modi wave appears to be thing of the past.

Most exit polls have predicted a Congress win in both Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. In Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram the contest is expected to be neck-to-neck. The polls have also predicted a TRS victory in Telangana.

The Election Commission of India has made all the necessary preparations for the counting of votes.

The complete results are expected to be out by the evening.
