Police recover 20 kg gold from train in Guwahati station, arrest four from Mizoram

Guwahati, May 5 (IBNS) : The Railway police on Friday arrested four persons, including two women, from Guwahati railway station and recovered gold worth Rs. six crore from them.

According to reports, Railway police  recovered 12 pieces of gold bars weighing about 20 kg during a routine check in the Delhi bound Tripura Sundari Express and arrested four persons hailing from Mizoram in connection with it.

The  arrested persons  revealed during police interrogation that  they were carrying the gold bars to deliver a person in Delhi.

A Railway police official said  the gold was being  smuggled from neighbouring Myanmar through the Manipur border.

In the past  four months, police has recovered over 50 kg gold from Guwahati railway station.
